FQHC 101: Basics for Health Center Staff

Description:
Designed for all health center staff, FQHC 101 provides a complete overview of the key components of the Health Center Program.

Learning Objectives:

  • Gain an understanding of Federally Qualified Health Centers, why they exist, and how they differ from other safety net providers
  • Identify types of health centers
  • Increase awareness of HRSA requirements (sliding fee scale, UDS, On-Site Visit protocol)
  • Become familiar with the shared language of FQHCs (acronyms), common programs (340B, FTCA, IPA, ACO), major challenges, the role of supporting organizations, and accreditation initiatives

Primary Audiences:

  • New health center staff
  • Any staff with little to no experience working in an FQHC or CHC
  • Staff that need a basic, foundational understanding of the unique practice environment of an FQHC

Speaker: Yvette Merritt, MPH
Mrs. Merritt is the former Training and Development Manager at LPCA. Besides her years with LPCA, she has over 10 years of experience in community-based Public Health. Specifically, she has expertise in needs assessment and improvement planning, coalition building, curriculum design and training, qualitative and quantitative research design and implementation, and evaluation, as well as grants management at the federal, state, and local levels of government and in non-profits.  She is also certified in secondary education.

She received B.A. in African American Studies from Georgia State University and an M.P.H. from the University of Pittsburgh.
